a baltic journey

Hi!  I'm Erica and this is my 6th RS tour and my 4th RS scrapbook website.  I love creating a website of my travel journey for others to read and use when planning their own vacations.   You are in luck if you like lots of photos!  One of my passions is photography and I usually only get to play with it when I travel.  

 

So why do I choose Rick Steves?  Many people ask me this and I always say 1) RS tours are well researched, planned and organized; 2) more focus on how locals live; and 3) I travel single and am always grateful for the wonderful travel companions on a Rick Steves tour.  

 

So why this tour?  1) it paired nice with my 14 Day Best of Scandinavia tour at the start of July; and 2) Russia.  I'm pretty sure that I am not the only person booking this tour just for St. Petersburg, Russia.  It has been a dream of mine for many years to travel to Russia. I wanted to experience the culture and witness a colorful onion domed cathedral in person.  

 

Many friends and family questioned if I should be going to Russia with everything going on at the time.  Even travel buddies on my Scandinavia tour questioned why I would support Russia's economy.  But I went anyway and I learned a lot about Russia's people and history; current events were not the focus.  St. Petersburg is amazing! I loved my time spent there.

 

Tallinn and Helsinki were bonus stops on our way to Russia; but added so much to the entire experience.  I was very pleased with each city we travelled to, including the hotels, food, sights and experiences.
